Federal Land’s Mitsukoshi BGC invites everyone to a heartfelt celebration of its second anniversary through the enchanting Tanabata Matsuri, a summer festival inspired by the Japanese legend of star-crossed lovers who reunite once a year beneath the Milky Way. Running from July to August, Tanabata Matsuri features colorful décor, meaningful rituals, and engaging activities, offering a sensory journey that captures the spirit of tradition and togetherness.

Tetsuo Koike, president, Mitsukoshi Federal Retail Inc; Thomas Mirasol, vice chairman, Federal Land, Inc; Charmaine Bauzon, commercial business group head, Federal Land Inc.; Dawn Ignacio, head for off-trade sales and marketing, Ralph’s Wines & Spirits; Jodee Arroyo, deputy general manager, Sunshine Fort North Bonifacio Retail Development Corporation; Yuki Shimizu, sales manager for Southeast Asia, Choya Umeshu Southeast Asia—Ralph’s Wines & Spirits; Yoji Kawaguchi, general manager, Mitsukoshi BGC; and Yusuke Hirano, vice chairman, Federal Land NRE Global Inc.

Since its opening, Mitsukoshi BGC has become a go-to destination for discerning shoppers, food lovers, and cultural enthusiasts, seamlessly blending refined Japanese traditions with the warmth of Filipino hospitality. Located at the podium of The Seasons Residences, a premium Japanese-inspired development by Federal Land and its Japanese partners Nomura Real Estate and Isetan Mitsukoshi, Mitsukoshi BGC is seamlessly integrated into a community that reflects the best of Japanese and Filipino living.

Tanabata Matsuri is a popular summer festival in Japan, which tells the story of star-crossed lovers, Hikoboshi (Altair) and Orihime (Vega). They are separated by the Milky Way and can only meet once a year, on July 7.

In Japan, families celebrate the season by writing wishes on tanzaku and hanging them on bamboo trees, alongside vibrant decorations that light up homes and neighborhoods.

Here’s your guide to making the most of Mitsukoshi BGC’s second year anniversary and Tanabata Matsuri celebration.

Senbonbiki, a popular matsuri game where each string leads to a surprise, will be available until August 17, every Friday to Sunday, allowing shoppers to try their luck and win exciting prizes.

The celebration kicked off last July 18, marking two years of award-winning Japanese retail experience in the Philippines. The event began with a special inauguration and the traditional Kagami Biraki ceremony—symbolizing harmony, gratitude, and new beginnings. The festivities culminated with the unveiling of the makeover of Mitsuko, Mitsukoshi BGC’s beloved Kokeshi doll fronting 8th Avenue.
