Hair expert Lourd Ramos demonstrates three easy and trendy ways to style your middle length hair

By Chesca de la Cruz

A lob (long bob) haircut is probably the most popular hairstyle in the recent years. This chic and versatile ‘do is universally flattering, not to mention easy to style and maintain.
Just like makeup, spice up and change your look once in a while through temporary styling.
I visited my hairdresser, hair expert Lourd Ramos, at his new salon Lourd’s High Chair in Eton Tower Makati, and asked him to demonstrate easy-to-do hair styles we, ladies, can personally do at home.

I. Sleek Chic blowout

Sophisticated, polished, and ultra-chic, this straight look is far from dull. To cop the look, always prep your tresses with a smoothing and anti-frizz serum, together with heat protectant, before blow drying.
Next step is to run a flat iron midway until the ends. Lourd Ramos explains, “It’s the best way to keep the volume and avoid weighing down the roots.”
Finish off with hairspray at the top and apply Argan Oil to the ends.

II. ‘60s Wispy Ponytail

The perfect updo for those with bangs, this hairstyle is apt for every day. But to add sophistication, wrap the side sections of your hair over the hair tie for variation and for a more polished look.

III. Boho waves

The hallway mark between wavy and straight, this semi-messy way of styling your lob is modern and very easy to do. The trick is not to perfect it so it looks perfectly undone. With a curling iron, take vertical sections of your hair and curl it, leaving the ends untouched. Lourd suggests you count to 10—or 20, depending on your hair—before releasing the clamp. Brush curls with your fingers to loosen and finally, set with hairspray.
