Lucky is the new in: lantern inspirations for the Chinese New Year

Asian Dragon Magazine, Makati Shangri-La, and Chinatown TV opened the Year of the Fire Monkey with an exhibit of hand-made lanterns made by students from different Filipino-Chinese schools in the metro last February 1, 2016.

Lanterns have been long part of the Chinese New Year celebrations dating back to Ancient China, where people believed that hanging lanterns and launching fireworks drove away bad spirits. If you’re planning to create a lantern for this coming New Year to drive out bad spirits and usher in good luck, here are the masterpieces by the kids on display at Makati Shangri-La Manila from February 1 to 12 to give you some inspiration and ideas.
