“Randy O 35,” a fashion show that looked back on Filipino designer Randy Ortiz’s best work and history as a couturier, was recently presented by Ayala Malls Bravo! Filipino and Ayala Malls Greenbelt

Randy celebrated a career where, through sheer dedication, commitment, diligence, and passion for the art, he was able to establish himself in the industry.

Randy is proud to have been able to stay this long in fashion, and have a platform to showcase his work through shows, editorials, and collaborations with major networks, publications, and brands. This has also allowed him to inspire and help provide a venue for younger designers who will come after him to hone their skills and carve their own niche, having led the Fashion Design Council of the Philippines for a time.

Surviving the pandemic was a learning and humbling experience for Randy, giving him time to reflect, become more progressive, and make his brand relevant in this new world where technology is at a premium. Randy is grateful to celebrate his 35th year in the arena that has embraced him and made him who he is today, an advocate for Filipino fashion.

The milestone also signifies his foresight to rebrand to keep up with the ever-changing landscape. Randy has always dreamt of the day when Filipinos patronize their own, and that is happening now, as Filipino fashion has come into its own.

For the show, Randy created pieces that showcased contemporary and distinct Filipino influences, with hints of indigenous fashion and inspirations from different regions—a beautiful homage to the Filipino dress and the modern Filipino man.
