It’s no secret that when it comes to tailored fashion, the name JC Buendia is always on top of mind.
For his collection, which debuted at the recent Bench Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2019, the seasoned designer sent down black and white pieces with pops of vivid yellow that displayed his streamlined aesthetic and impeccable tailoring.
Buendia, who started his career in fashion at the same time as retail giant Bench did (1987), turned to the Netflix series Outlander for his inspiration. His collection, which he named after the character Claire, represents modern women who are “strong yet feminine, liberal but old-fashioned.”
The collection, with an aesthetic heavily inspired by the 18th century, featured pantsuits and dresses in silk gazar, which the designer juxtaposed with sheer tulle and organdy. Oversized bows and pearls further romanticized the looks and added a sophisticated, feminine touch to borrowed-from-the-boys details. Pockets and drop waists were also seen on dresses, even on evening gowns.
Feminine yet bold, timeless yet modern—Buendia’s collection is truly a dream for today’s Claires. There are a lot to fancy on, which you can don from day to night, from desk to drinks. You can even wear them with white sneakers, if you wish.
Take your pick from the collection’s sleek silhouettes, fit-to-flare pairings, and forgiving shapes in upgrading your wardrobe this season.
