Bobbi Brown’s beauty philosophy is that makeup should be simple and believable—skin should look like skin and you should look like you. And with the Korean cushion compact craze reaching the mainstream American market, it’s just high time beauty giant Bobbi Brown comes up with one.

The beauty guru wants foundation to always be fresh, just like a cup of freshly-brewed coffee. With a packaging inspired by a coffee pod, the new Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Cushion Compact SPF 50 PA+++ dispenses just the perfect amount of product you need. Thanks to its capsule technology and airtight packaging, the formula is preserved and drying is minimized. It’s also packed with Pink Silk Tree extract and caffeine that rejuvenate and re-energize skin while protecting it with moisture-infused anti-pollution barriers and high level sun protection.

The foundation capsule refill is housed in a chic compact base that comes with a puff. Open the foil lid and simply press the puff into the sponge to release liquid foundation. Gently pat and smooth it over clean skin, starting from the center of the face. For more coverage, use a dense foundation brush like Bobbi Brown Full Coverage brush.

The foundation comes in only six shades. What I like about it is that the shades are yellow-based, which can cancel out ruddiness and suit Asian skin. It gives a medium sheer coverage, yet buildable to full without looking too heavy. The cushion compact is also economical, as one press is enough to cover almost the entire face.

The silky formula glides on the skin easily and feels very lightweight, and gives a dewy, fresh sheen that’s highly recommended for dry skin types. It does not go greasy or slick even after hours of wear, which makes it ideal even for oily-skinned gals. It takes a few minutes to set to a satin finish and doesn’t noticeably oxidize.

Even with its high SPF content, the foundation doesn’t give a white cast. And despite its moisturizing formula, this foundation is apt for our tropical climate. Set it with powder (for an extra glow, try Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Illuminating Powder) and you’re good to go!

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Cushion Compact SPF 50 PA+++ retails at P2,900 and is available in all Bobbi Brown counters nationwide.
