Scarves are usually associated with the cold season, but aside from being an accessory, a classic cashmere scarf is an investment piece. More than keeping you warm especially during your travels, donning a scarf is one of the easiest ways to instantly add a touch of color, texture and pattern, and life to simpler outfits—and there’s a myriad of ways to style it. A statement piece can go a long way, especially one like Burberry’s coveted checkered cashmere scarf.

It was a chilly afternoon in the metro when Asian Dragon was invited to take a closer look at the selection of Burberry’s iconic scarves. The traditional process of making each scarf begins with raw cashmere fibre collected and dyed in 30 different colors, woven in age-old looms, hand-checked for precision, and washed in fresh Scottish waters and brushed by natural teasels.

Aside from being a piece of clothing, scarves are popularly used as a fashion accessory. It has been a popular trend to take thin strips of folded silk scarves and tying them onto the handles of any bag—be it the whole handle or a simple knot around it. You can even use it as a hair accessory by folding it up to two inches wide and placing it on your hair as a headband and tying a knot underneath, or around your bun for accent.

The best thing about scarves is their timelessness. You can never go wrong with having a scarf that adds character to your look and reflects your personality through bold, colorful patterns.

Burberry is available at Rustan’s Makati, Rustan’s Shangri-la Plaza, and Greenbelt 4.
