From a small space within Shoemart, Kultura has successfully elevated and transformed the concept of a Filipiniana section to that of a trusted and respected brand showcasing a treasure chest of the country’s best Philippine products in its chain of stores nationwide.

Kultura brand ambassador Marian Rivera

Kultura celebrated its 20th anniversary, looking back on two decades of evolution, and honoring the craftsmanship and stories of artisans across the Philippines. The occasion was also a thanksgiving to those who contributed to the brand’s journey. “Born from the simple desire to celebrate Philippine handicrafts, Kultura began as a small space nurtured within the walls  of Shoemart,” said Kultura president Ivy Yap. “We drew inspiration from our  rich heritage and vibrant traditions, approaching our work with a passion for deepening our understanding of our cultural identity. Working hand in hand with our valued artisans, we began to shape our future.”

As Kultura grew, so did their aspirations and dreams. They expanded their product lines and established stand-alone stores, experimenting with and refining their strategy along the way. Today, Kultura has over 48 stand-alone stores nationwide and counting in 2024. From distinguished patrons and esteemed vendors to partner organizations, foundations, and employees, each one was acknowledged as being instrumental to Kultura’s growth.

The milestone also marked the return of award-winning actress and entrepreneur Marian Rivera as Kultura’s brand ambassador. An avid client of Kultura, she revealed that whatever happens, whether she remains an endorser or not, she will continue to patronize the store.

After the grand reveal, Marian toured the refreshed Mall of Asia flagship store, meeting the faces behind some of the most loved products, such as South Sea pearls, barongs hand-embroidered in Taal, quilts and native bags made in Bicol, and totes upcycled from juice packs by Payatas communities.

As brand ambassador, Marian will introduce the newest collections of South Sea, freshwater, and baroque pearls throughout the year. This season’s jewelry lines experiment with playful shapes, textures, fun colors, and sizes for trendy takes on the classic gem—find square and coin pearl statement pieces, colorful, stackable bangles, dangling earrings, dramatic opera-length necklaces, and much more. With her innate personal style and love for local, she will continue to promote Filipiniana, sharing tips and showing how to make this part of women’s wardrobe essentials for different occasions. Those who love athleisure and t-shirts are also in for a treat with new looks inspired by Marian.

Marian tours the store for product demos, and to try on pieces.

Kultura remains committed to its mission of preserving and promoting Philippine culture, and is grateful to all who have been part of its story. Suppliers and stakeholders were also present to show their heartfelt thanks to Kultura for their support that has led to upgrading the quality, image, and pride of Philippine products. “We are committed to continuing our mission of preserving and promoting Philippine culture,” said Yap. “Here’s to many more years of growth, innovation, and celebration of our beloved Philippines.”
