Online food and grocery delivery platform foodpanda announced its enhanced flagship sustainability program, Let’s Do Our Pau-rt! (LDOP), as part of its 2021-2022 Corporate Social Advocacy Report. With this, foodpanda reaffirms its commitment to fighting hunger, improving lives, and promoting sustainability in the country.
First introduced in 2022, foodpanda launched LDOP to build an economically inclusive and environmentally-resilient Philippines. Now, the enhanced program will add the mission to fight hunger.
“Focusing on these main pillars, we are looking at a clearer path towards creating meaningful change to communities,” said foodpanda Philippines Chief Executive Officer Daniel Marogy. He stressed the company’s commitment to making a broader and more holistic impact on the country and the world.
Furthermore, Marogy explained that LDOP’s goals align with key areas of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aim to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 will live in peace and prosperity.
“We are at the forefront of a growing movement that will positively impact our surroundings and the communities we serve,” CEO Marogy said.
ShareTheMeal against hunger
As the Philippines face major challenges in achieving SDG 2, which is to end hunger, CEO Marogy shared that foodpanda wants to be part of the solution and that it is fitting for the company to do its part given the abundance of food resources that they have.
foodpanda developed the ShareTheMealprogram with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) under the LDOP umbrella. foodpanda’s ShareTheMeal program allows users to donate meals to local farmers from disaster-prone areas in the Philippines.
“Farmers are one of the most affected by natural calamities as it destroys their crop and livestock production – which is their source of income and oftentimes, what they also eat. By joining and partnering with WFP in this advocacy, we can help provide meals to thousands of Filipino farmers,” Marogy explained.
The ShareTheMeal program is an extension of a global partnership launched by foodpanda’s parent company, Delivery Hero SE, with the WFP. As of December 2022, the program has donated over 10 million meals globally.
In addition to the app feature, foodpanda is also partnering with Scholars of Sustenance, a global food rescue foundation, to donate items from its pandamart grocery delivery service to communities in need. The company is also planning to enlist the help of its partner restaurants to encourage them to donate their excess food items.
LDOP is a bold and ambitious program that reflects foodpanda’s commitment to making a positive impact on the world. foodpanda is confident that by working together with partners and stakeholders, it can achieve the goals of LDOP and help build a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
